Neon Kahuna Desk

Neon Broadcast's Multi format Truck has been built to work with any combination of HD and SD sources, providing output in any format or Aspect Ratio. As each of the 4 ME banks is independently configurable, the truck can even offer simulcast outputs in several different formats. Signal Routing is handled by a Network 64x64 HD router, with Snell and Wilcox IQ system digital glue.

Neon Monitor Stack

The production area features 18 Sony 17" TFT preview monitors, 3 Sony 23" auxiliary monitors and 3 x 32" program monitors. The flat screen monitor stack allows for a surprisingly spacious production area in a fixed chassis vehicle with an overall length of just 11 metres. The onscreen tally display system is based around an Amazon Tally Processor providing user configurable UMD data to each monitor via an Axon HD > WXGA interface card.

Neon Audio Desk

The audio system features 2 cascaded Sony R100 desks giving a 48 Channel digital recording facility via MADI onto multi track tape or digital disc recorders as required.

Neon MD Colin Vinten commissioned Christian Clegg of Quicksilver Design to provide the technical system design and act as engineering consultant during installation and commissioning. The HD truck is Neon's second digital production vehicle; Neon's 8 camera Digital truck was also designed and engineered by Quicksilver in 2002.

Initial CAD based schematics were produced and amended in detailed discussions with the Customer. Having finalised sound, vision, comms and control systems, comprehensive cable run data and equipment layouts were then supplied to Leeds based installation company E to E. In addition to engineering consultancy Quicksilver Design also provided technical support during the commissioning and system configuration phases.
